You must visit a Job Centre Plus office to make your first Universal Credit claim. When I went there for the first time, it was intimidating, and I was anxious. All of the personnel, though, were courteous and nice.
Since then, I've been coming in once a week to discuss what kind of work I want to pursue, and my work coach has assisted me in finding courses and positions.
All you need to do is ask for assistance in a courteous manner. They can assist you with drafting your resume, applying to courses, and ultimately landing a job.
