We expected the worst after booking a ferry from Dover to Calais and returning on a motorbike, having read some awful reviews on this site. But everything went quite well, so our worries were unwarranted. The people and the ferry were excellent. We didn't have to wait long at all because the bikes were the first to board and were securely fastened. The ferry itself was also quite good, with a few eateries and lovely lounging areas (although I would have preferred some vegan alternatives because I starve in France). My favourite ferry company right now is Irish Ferries, and I'll definitely be making more reservations with them.

I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews. In comparison to other firms, I paid half as much for my tickets. I was accommodated on earlier ferries from Calais to Dover in both directions without any issues or additional costs. When I arrived six hours early for my scheduled ferry, I was put on the next one without any problems. A few mildly long lines formed at check-in in Calais, but the staff was kind and accommodating. What matters is that I was moved from one place to another without incident.
