gearbox needing replacement after only 36000 miles although out of warranty still covered by consumer rights act and only 50% goodwill instead of full
City where company is located (optional): west sussex

although my van is over 4years old and out of warranty it is still covered by the consumer rights act after only36000 miles i have had to have a new gearbox fitted due to a manufacturing fault citroen have given a goodwill gesture of 50% but left me with a £1550 bill which i will be going to he small claims court to reclaim from them. The consumer rights act is very clear on manufacturing faults and claims can be made up to 6 years after purchase.I bought a new car and had a citroen dealer service it every year so i would have trouble free motoring. Also as a 100000 mile warranty is offered on new vans anyone buying one should expect to ahieve at least that and if as i believe i win my court case citroen may need to add a disclaimer to their advertising that although they initially offer an 100000 mile warranty their vans may not be reliable enough to reach this witout major fault and cost i have raised this issue with citroen customer care to no avail and if i could give no stars i would i have had several citoen vans but after this treatment will not buy any more and anyone seeing the publicity generated by this case will be put off doing so
