Fitting of a battery
City where company is located (optional): Chelmsford

After a mechanic fitted a replacement battery to my Ford C-Max I drove it and the engine warning light came on. I looked under the bonnet to find the air box loose and unattached. I called the company and eventually managed to speak to someone who sent the mechanic back to fix it. He couldn't as he had broke the clips and he had ripped out the wires belonging to the wiring loom.
He said someone would be down to turn the engine warning light off and look at the wires. No one came and eventually the next day I contacted someone who said they were not responsible as the parts were already broken. They were definitely not and I can prove it. I will have to get these repairs done and take this to a legal representative to as I cannot drive my car as it is. NEVER USING HALFORDS AGAIN and PLEASE DONT if you are thinking of it!!!!

Customer service
City where company is located (optional): LONDON

I left my bike with Halfords, Charlton 6 weeks ago. I was guaranteed that it would be ready for collection by the 2nd June. I rang customer service 2 days ago and was told it was Ready for inspection. I rang this morning and was told it was ready for collection. The call centre is in South Africa so it was difficult for them to understand a native English speaker. I was so angry I rang back customer service and was put on hold then cut off. I rang back again and was told that the person I spoke to made a mistake. I tried to make a complaint unsuccessfully. I will ring head office tomorrow. A bus and a train to get there and the same back for nothing. Unacceptable

Back box exhaust for a ford ka
City where company is located (optional): Ashford

We bought a back box exhaust for a ford ka at halfords in Ashford , just before the first lockdown , durring that time the baffles have come loose and rattles , today , 4th May , is the first day we could get to the halfords garage as we had to isolate. We were told by the garage it would cost £180, which is more than we paid in the first place , and we did explain all this , but they no , £180 is the price. Is this right ?

Payment
City where company is located (optional): Redditch

Cannot comment on the bike as haven’t received it but service was terrible, I paid for the bike on the 17th of the 4th money left my account on the 18th, I called up on the 20th the day the bike was due to arrive, to be told that the order hadn't gone through but they had taken the money. Did I want to re order the bike, the money had to be returned to my card and this would be done in the next 3-5 working days, so I agreed to pay again, we went through the order process and then he said my card had been declined. I then rang my card company who confirmed that halford had taken £275 on the 18th and that they had taken a further £275 today, so for a bike I have no order for and no paperwork for they have taken £550. So I ring Halfords back to be told, OH yes you are right, we will pay that money back to you in the next 3-5 working days, do you want to re order this bike now? I said so you want me to spend another £275 for this bike, which would mean that I have paid you £825 for a bike that cost £275 with the promise that in the next 3-5 working days I will get £550 back. Can I speak to a manger please, NO I can escalate this and a manager may ring back in the next 24 HOURS, customer service don’t go to halfords as it cost £550 and you won’t even have an order. Very poor though all staff I spoke to polite and friendly, maybe that’s what they charge for are they going bust and just want the money for the wages?

online orders

having tried to buy a bicycle in store I was told I had to order it online so I did. they promised delivery within one week having waited I asked why no delivery they said that the promised dates where only an estimate and could they can not do anything about delivering as promised, their customer service is rubbish as long as you pay they don t care this was once a name you could trust sadly no longer. I gave one star rating because it does not allow a no star rating

Battery Warranty Policy
City where company is located (optional): South Birmingham

MY mates wife bought a new 100 amp hour battery for his daughters kuga, and it stopped starting her car a short while after purchase. when he tried to get it exchanged he was told he needed the receipt, which by this time his MRs couldn't put their hand on.. As a long term fan of halfords and trade discount card holder, I took it upon myself to accompany him to my local Halfords where they tested the battery pronounced it faulty, and again refused to honour the warranty unless his O/H presents the battery herself or finds the reciept for him to carry. Eventually he gave it me, and I put it in service running a cab heater in my shed, using a trickle charger to maintain it's charge. After a couple of months (it's predecessor did the job for three years without incident) the battery literally exploded. In 40 years of professional and mantuer use of lead acid batteries, I have never seen or even heard of such a thing happening, so I let them know. here's their reply:

Thanks for getting in touch.

I am very sorry to hear of the experience with the battery, but store were correct to advise only the original purchaser could return the battery as the warranty lies with that person alone.

Also we do not advise anyone to use the battery for a use outside of manufacturers recommendation, we would not recommend use of our Yuasa batteries for anything other than it's intended purpose.

Again apologies for any inconvenience caused.

INCONVENIENCE?? it's rendered my workshop totally unuseable until I get rid of all of the sulphuric acid mist that seems to have coated everything and I dread to think what would have happened if I had been in it at the time. IF ONLY I could get my mates Mrs to find the reciept this ruddy thing (or the bottom half anyway) would be going back to Halfords!

There's a few lessons here...
