During Covid I have become a frequent customer at my local Iceland shop (Whitley Bay) and whilst I find products and pricing competitive I am disappointed at the lack of management control over customers meeting Covid distancing. This is a relatively small shop with only 4 aisles but with one marked as till outlet approach. Unfortunately recently customers have ignored this and choose their own route. Consequently distancing is not followed. Management seems to ignore this. In my opinion there is no excuse for such an attitude. Local Sainsbury's outlets have staff directing customers and even our local butchers ( Nicholsons) and hardware shop make sure customers keep to distancing rules.

Come on Iceland you are not only letting your customers down but also yourselves.

Raised concern about customer with two children who all failed to observe social distancing rules inside shop and the manager (a Lady) instead of addressing the issue, chose to ban me from the shop. This was at the height of the pandemic in mid April 2020. I was left wondering whether it was because lm black and raised concerns about a white lady and her two children ( one a toddler) who deliberately chose to break shop and government Covid rules by coming in very very close contact with me and my wife ( both of us not only being key workers but BME and at more risk)?

Delivery & store staff
City where company is located (optional): Colwyn Bay

Complaint sent 16.12.20 to Iceland Head Office - if they respond it will be a FIRST!

"Just visited my local Iceland food store in Colwyn Bay, Conwy. This is 5..5 miles from my home in Betws yn Rhos. I spent over £55.00 and was asked if I would like home delivery. As I am over 67 years and partially disabled I said "Yes please". Then the store staff insisted they will NOT deliver to Betws yn Rhos, despite it being HALF THE 10 MILE DISTANCE they claim they will deliver to. I told them the store had previously agreed it would deliver to my home in this village, and their Iceland delivery van had been seen in the village on occasions before. The staff insisted (shouted from the other end of the store) that it must have been from "some other store", and they would not deliver for me. When I asked for the phone number for head office to complain, the staff claimed they "don't have one", and that I had to go home and look online instead. Iceland are seen on this page to be in the RIP-OFF habit of requiring people to complain by phone on top call charge-rated 0901 phone number - the type of number previously associated with sex lines. I will not verbalise my immediate personal thoughts on that similarity!

WHAT I WILL SAY IS, THIS IS A FORMAL COMPLAINT AGAINST ICELAND AND THE COLWYN BAY STORE STAFF. I want it properly dealt with, not dismissed with a few curt comments, or brushed under the carpet with the arrogance normally encountered in-store.

You treat your customers like S*** and from now on I am boycotting your stores.

In addition, I will NEVER stop giving bad reviews about your company and store staff, and will NEVER stop telling anyone I meet or know what type of company Iceland really is.

Allan West"

Delivery driver

Iceland delivery driver stunk of stale alcohol and his eyes were all blood shot. Shouldn't even be driving in that state, he's a danger on the roads

second visit to this store after avoiding due to hearing lots of locals complaining of horrendous unnecessary queues. after waiting in a lengthy queue last visit I relayed to the till operator that I had witnessed at least three shoppers behind me walking out of the store leaving behind their shopping. the till assistant ignored my feedback and only seemed bothered about where the food was abandoned. I was shocked then and more so today as I had to walk out also following two other shoppers refusing to queue in a unacceptable queue with one checkout open. if my customers walked away from my business I would be ashamed. as I own a business locally we would daily use this store. with Sainsbury s opposite and at least three tills open I shop there now. when you have a hidden disability but choose to wear a face covering its extremely uncomfortable and annoying for the till operator to dismiss my feedback .
