We have spent fifteen years away from the UK. After we left local government, dealing with government departments was a nightmare, and one could usually get good service from businesses. When we get back, we see that everything has changed. While the government has made significant efforts to improve, commercial enterprises continue to conceal themselves behind voice-response systems and automatically generated emails. Wealden seems to be the most endearing, gregarious, and supportive of all of them. Sadly, I doubt that the commercial companies will have caught up if we leave for an additional 15 years.

I am so grateful to Wealden Council; for the past 14 years, they have supported me each time I have had to visit them. We are grateful to all of the ladies and gentlemen who toil diligently in their offices to organise everything for us. I'm grateful.
