Excellent teammates and helpful team leaders. Pay is good, but work-life balance is bad. albeit perhaps more the domain of activity and not exclusive to the council.

It is very usual to practice poor decision-making and mismanagement. Employees are ignored by management, advancement is based on who you know rather than what you know, and training is scarce despite requests for it. The health and safety culture is appalling; rather than being enforced, it's more of a checkbox exercise.
