I was at this facility a lot at the beginning of the year, organising several business matters. Basically, you come here to ask any questions you may have about your housing assistance, council tax, etc. People use a ticket system similar to Argos ('ticket number 568, please go to desk 18'), and they all hang out on the rows of chairs, reading newspapers or using their phones to play games.
There are strong security guards on the door because there are sometimes crazy people who goof around in there. You also occasionally make mistakes (my last visit, I stayed 45 minutes in the incorrect queue when I could have left in 3 minutes).
However, all in all, they're rather understanding and supportive there. You are frequently given precise explanations without being patronising. The highly condescending film about "challenging your perceptions" that plays silently in the waiting area is one of the drawbacks. An excellent reason to avoid it is not having to watch that!
